There is nothing like sitting in the same place as any historical figure. You can feel their energy. I found this in places like the Sistine Chapel, Westminster Abbey, Rembrandt’s studio. This rock with its nice contoured back to sit comfortably while you paint was one of those spots. I’m not saying Thomson is comparable to those other artists, that is for someone else to say, but for an artist that has been studying him for 3 years and retracing his path, it was pretty darn cool.
